Interesting article from Horse Canada – apparently John Anderson wasn’t bitten by the horse bug until later in life. In fact, he was actually scared of horses for a while.
This is why they needed to add more boy characters to the saddle club. Full article here.

I have no idea who made this piece of art, which is a real shame since it’s pretty cool to look at. I like the combo of the colours and the fish are great.
It’s interesting how many pieces of art use white (well, grey) horses. I’ve always been a fan of bays myself, but there is that certain mystic about the white horse no?

I would have killed for one of these bikes when I was little. Growing up in the suburbs didn’t offer the opportunity to run down the road and hop on the neighbour’s draft horses. My friends and I had to rely on Breyers, Grand Champions and even Barbie horses.
We also used to pretend that our bikes were horses – this bike would have been SO much fun. They are made by a company called Pony Pals. How appropriate!

I’ve never been a fan of roller coasters, but those carousel horses call to me every time. To this day, I still get the urge to go for a ride on a pretty painted pony.
I don’t know whether I should blame Mary Poppins, my love of horses or going to the Woodbine Fantasy Fair as a child, but I love those carousels.

I mean really, this tiny man has been in some of the greatest horse movies ever. From Thoroughbreds Don’t Cry with Judy Garland to National Velvet with the incomparable Elizabeth Taylor. And let’s not forget the triumph of Lightning the White Stallion or the Black Stallion!
What’s your favourite Mickey Rooney movie?

…I can do better. I can do anything better than you. Cool photo taken during the 2008 Tour de France. To check out the rest of the Tour de France images, click here. (I’ll warn you, this is the only horsey one)

I’ve always had a fascination with armoured horses. Or war horses in general. A horse had to be to pretty brave to charge into battle, wearing over 60 pounds of armour.
